In a research report by influential research and advisory firm Forrester, Esri was recognised for setting a global standard in GIS technology, with consistent and constant innovation.

Following interviews conducted with 23 organisations, Esri was listed as one of the top six global software providers in the 2016 Forrester Wave report, Geospatial Analytics Tools and Platforms.

Forrester noted in the report that “Esri is an authoritative standard for GIS and continues to innovate. Esri’s consistent and constant focus on serving the GIS market for decades has matured into a platform with some of the most extensive capabilities for capturing spatial data and the analysis, presentation, and delivery of spatial insights.”

“Esri’s strong capabilities in 3D mapping and projections, as well as its comprehensive Living Atlas of spatial enrichment data, provide a wealth of components for deep analysis. Non-specialists can easily consume Esri’s insights as well, through applications or its ArcGIS Online software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform.”

The report goes on to state: “Spatial insights are finding their way into sales, customer relationship management (CRM), customer support, human resources, marketing, technology management, and many other areas.

Crucial to this trend is the fact these teams are not just consuming spatial insights provided by specialist teams – often they are customising or generating their own.

“Today, advancements and innovations are creating a new wave of interest in location solutions. These allow companies to use spatial data to drive unprecedented levels of understanding and analysis of user habits and behaviour, but they also provide the platforms to deliver the messaging, content, and other actions directly to users in the most appropriate context.”

Following the release of the report, Esri Founder and President Jack Dangermond said, “We have been partnering with our customers for more than 40 years to help them gain insights from powerful analytics, geospatial imagery, and geographic information. Our employees understand the importance of visual storytelling and we’re excited to be recognised by Forrester.”

Considered the benchmark for digital mapping and analytics, Esri's award-winning ArcGIS platform helps organisations of all sizes reveal deeper insights embedded in their geospatial data. Esri applications run on millions of desktops and servers, supplying the digital backbone for a robust global community of public and private sector users who create the maps that run the world.

“Esri is the industry leader in driving business transformation for customers through the use of geospatial tools and technology,” added Esri Director of Product Marketing Dirk Gorter.

“Our significant investment in research and development allows us to offer some of the most accessible and robust GIS solutions available, including a comprehensive content library that provides authoritative topographic, demographic, and imagery data from a wide variety of local and global sources.”
