Map shines light on Christmas celebrations

By Clarice Africa22 Dec 2014

Christmas light displays are fast becoming a colourful tradition during the festive season – but which country does it best?

From the breathtaking beauty of the Regent Street lights in London to the awe-inspiring lit trees of Minnesota, thousands of hours – and mountains of creativity – have gone into some remarkable designs.

Now, thanks to the interactive ‘Holiday Decorations’ map created by global mapping giant Esri in partnership with the Smithsonian, you can fly around the world instantly – like Santa Claus – and judge which nation is most impressive.

The Holiday Decorations map gathers images of Christmas lights from all over the globe, to show how the world is embracing the festive spirit.

Singaporeans can put themselves on the map by clicking the ‘share’ button to show their photos to the world.
