When Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) opened a new terminal in 2010, it replaced its reactive asset management approach with a more structured philosophy that included asset performance, lifecycle analysis and asset information management — including geospatial relevance, compliance and risk management.

This culminated in Dublin Airport being the first airport in the world to achieve ISO 55001 certification in April 2015. Today, to sustain its 9% annual growth rate -- averaged over the last five years -- daa has had to adopt and leverage technology to work smarter and more effectively. This session will explore the adoption of GIS, BIM and mobile technologies, how to unlock data for smarter asset management and delve into digital information asset management strategies. 

The integration of BIM and GIS is driving the move towards more fully digitised workflows — and new ways for integrating are enabling AEC professionals to break down departmental silos.

With more connected workflows, teams can solve problems — even those that extend ‘outside’ the building — and deliver better results with minimal negative impact.

The base layers are imported into a modelling platform that allows planners to define procedures for generating street networks and urban massing models. Using a visual programming approach, the platform allows planners with no programming skills to create complex procedures with local and global constraints. The resulting street networks and urban massing models are imported into CityEngine, where the model can be augmented with additional graphical elements such as surface textures and 3D vegetation.

The world is becoming more instrumented every day with the Internet of Things (IoT). Meanwhile, Machine Learning (ML), a branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI), is a disruptive force that’s changing how organisations extract new insight from their data. Abhijit will provide an overview of ML capabilities in ArcGIS in making predictions, classifying imagery and identifying clustering.
