Integrated mapping and analytics platform
The state-owned telecommunications company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk (Telkom), has undertaken an ambitious fibre-to-the-home project called IndiHome, a triple-play offering that packages phone, Internet, and cable television services.
Having once had a monopoly on telecommunication services, the government passed a law in 1999, that deregulated telecommunications and terminated Telkom's exclusive right to provide telephone and other communications services.
With increased pressure to take competitive offerings to market, Telkom chose to invest in enterprise geographic information system (GIS) technology in early 2016.
This case study outlines how Telkom is using its new platform to map infrastructure and conduct spatial analysis to best drive down costs while serving customers.
In the meantime, Telkom has seen phenomenal growth in subscriptions to IndiHome.
