State-owned oil and natural gas corporation Pertamina EP has been selected from more than 400,000 organisations worldwide to win a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award.
The award, which was presented by Bima Priadi, the CEO of leading geospatial solutions provider Esri Indonesia, recognises the company for their innovative, world-leading use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to improve the efficiency of their operations.
Pertamina EP used GIS technology to create a portal which allows users to quickly compile, integrate, and analyse data from across multiple business systems.
It then visually presents the results on a dynamic and intuitive map, enabling users to identify and solve problems in the most efficient manner.
By having this technology in place, Mr Priadi said it equipped users across the entire organisation with actionable information that can help them make decisions that are timely, relevant, consistent, and objective.
When managers make a decision that is driven by the most up-to-date data, they can be confident they have made the best possible choice under the circumstances.
He continued: “The quality of decisions are then reflected on substantial improvements in productivity, operations, and services that enable Pertamina EP to set a truly world-class standard in the industry.”
Pertamina EP Vice President for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Budi Widyarta, said they are honoured to receive such recognition.
“It is an honour for us to receive the SAG Award from Esri as GIS is definitely a key plank in our efforts to improve internal productivity and efficiency,” said Mr Purwana, Pertamina EP ICT Geomatics Solutions Assistant Manager. “We’ve only just begun unlocking its potential and we can’t wait to see how it can transform our other key business processes.”
