William Wong joined the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in September 2023 and currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Emergency Preparedness (EP) Department. He is responsible for leading the department in formulating and implementing strategies and policies related to maritime emergencies and business continuity planning during crises and national emergencies. Additionally, he oversees the development of contingency plans to mitigate emerging risks associated with climate change and the adoption of new energy sources.
William has over 20 years of experience in emergency response, contingency planning, and crisis management. He began his career as a Senior Officer in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), where he led teams of emergency responders in handling fire, rescue, and hazardous materials (hazmat) incidents. Prior to joining MPA, he headed a team at the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), responsible for ensuring operational readiness and crisis management for incidents affecting civil aviation at Changi and Seletar Airports.
